Overview


The Library Board is an advisory group appointed by the City Council to advocate for the library, and to protect and advance the interests of the wider community, by effectively advising the City Council and Library Director in the policies, promotion, and development of the Lafayette Public Library.

  • The seven members serve three-year terms. There are two alternate positions.
  • Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Conference Room (upper level) at the Lafayette Public Library

Desired Qualifications or Interests

We need people who believe in the importance of literacy, are thoughtful about the future of libraries, and are willing to be active advocates for the work that we do.

  1. Requirements & Duties
    • Resident of Lafayette for at least 12 months (prior to appointment)
    • Registered voter
    • Attend scheduled meetings
    • May be required to attend other meetings or volunteer at special events to promote work of the committee.
