An Artists’ Salon (Moderated Discussion) will be Sunday, February 25, 3 - 4:30 pm. The artists of the Women’s Art Show are invited to speak informally and briefly about their art making and how it affects who they are and how they view themselves. Free and open to the public.

Lafayette City Council created the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in 2016. The HRC is committed to evaluating Lafayette City government, programs and processes with an inclusive lens, with a goal of fostering equity, social justice and freedom from fear of persecution based on race, religious belief, country of origin, sexual or gender identity, physical ability or age. The group meets monthly in order to: Make recommendations to City Council on ways to improve inclusivity and diversity in the City of Lafayette; facilitate community conversations on issues and/or occurrences of division and conflict in the City of Lafayette, and to make recommendations for ways to resolve and eliminate these; research, study and make recommendations to City Council and staff regarding federal, state or local government actions that may have an effect on diversity and inclusiveness in the City of Lafayette.

Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission (LCAC) promotes, nurtures, and celebrates the visual, performing, and language arts by providing opportunities for the public to appreciate and enjoy art in its various forms; connecting artists, educators, and community members with resources; building partnerships to sustain and further the arts; and embracing and supporting the diversity of the community we serve. LCAC works closely with the Arts and Cultural Resources Department to plan and implement programs for the community.

Get your blood pumping and your mind engaged with a brisk walk of discovery along Coal Creek Trail. Led by naturalist, Martin Ogle, this walk will offer moderate exercise together with fascinating facts and information about the natural history of Coal Creek. Come to better know your place and enjoy the day with fellow hikers!
This 4 mile walk begins at the S. Public Road trailhead on Coal Creek. The group will walk at a moderate pace with very few stops. The walk will take place rain or shine. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Martin Ogle. RSVP required.
