The City of Lafayette’s Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee (LESAC) announces the successful conclusion of its sixth annual Green Business Program, which recognizes local businesses for efforts in energy efficiency, waste reduction, efficient water use, and alternative transportation.

Lafayette’s Green Business Program is about community engagement in our collective future, and taking action to use resources more sustainably in order to allow for a better future for our children and our children’s children. Awardees can be proud of their actions, save money on energy and water, and earn the business of more customers who value this same community commitment.

New business benefits this year include access to Boulder County’s discounted Eco Pass/My Ride Program and online links from the Lafayette Green Business Recognition webpage. Businesses will also receive free digital publicity for two months, City recognition, promotional windows decals, and public recognition by City Council at their April 17, 2018, meeting. Additionally, 2017 was the inaugural year Lafayette businesses had access to the GreenBizTracker, a national, web-based software program that allows the tracking and collection of sustainability metrics.

"The Lafayette Green Business Program provides a great framework to engage businesses and their customers in the fulfillment of the City of Lafayette's sustainability goals. Our new goals include citywide achievement of using 100% renewable energy by 2030 and an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The addition of the new, nationally used GreenBiz Tracker will make this program even more powerful," stated Lafayette Mayor Christine Berg.

The City of Lafayette, the Lafayette Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee (LESAC), Boulder County’s Partners for a Clean Environment (PACE), Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy, the Lafayette Waste Reduction Advisory Committee (WRAC), Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment have partnered to provide this opportunity. PACE provides local business owners with free one-on-one support to identify and take advantage of opportunities to save on utility bills, reduce waste and toxicity, and more. They can even provide assistance to complete the participation application if needed.

All business and commercial property owners in Lafayette are invited to join the Green Business Community. Guidance and support are available every step of the way. An online application is available at cityoflafayette.com/GreenBusiness or contact an expert PACE Business Sustainability Advisor at 303-786-7223 or info@PACEpartners.com for information and assistance.
