    A new Electronics Law took effect on July 1, 2013. Colorado residents are prohibited from placing certain electronic devices in their trash for disposal. More information on Senate Bill 12-133.

    Come enjoy stirring tales of Earth and nature told in the great outdoors! Our featured storyteller will be Dr. Bailey Phelps, a professional storyteller and native flute player for over 50 years. Dr. Phelps is a member of the Cherokee Nation and a Lafayette resident. He was the featured storyteller at Cheyenne Frontier Days and has performed at numerous libraries, schools, and museums across the country. The program will take place at the Outdoor Classroom Open Space Amphitheater (111. W. Baseline Rd - behind the Rec Center). This free program is for adults and children 8 and older.

    The Citizens' Police Academy is a unique 12 week mini-police academy for citizens 15 and older. The academy meets once a week to explain and demonstrate many of the department's policies, divisions and functions. Areas covered include DUI investigation, crime scene investigation, felony car stops, traffic enforcement, tactics, SWAT, officer safety and more! If you have ever wondered why the police do what they do to keep you safe, apply to attend the 2017 academy! Applications and background checks are required. Applications available online and at the police department. Seating is limited, so apply today!

    A new Electronics Law took effect on July 1, 2013. Colorado residents are prohibited from placing certain electronic devices in their trash for disposal. More information on Senate Bill 12-133. Due to this law, the Waste Reduction Advisory Committee (WRAC) and the Public Works Department of the City of Lafayette will be hosting an Electronics Recycling Collection Event. Eco-Cycle will be partnering with Blue Star Recyclers - a certified e-Stewards recycler, to safely recycle all materials . Over 95% of materials will be recycled for remanufacture.

    Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga classes are all levels, traditional yoga classes taught on the water at Waneka Lake in Lafayette, on standup paddleboats. Classes, taught by a fully-qualified instructor, cover the basics of maneuvering on a board and the keys to accessing yoga postures on the waters. Enjoy learning while adapting to the motion of the board. Register on-line, at the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center, or on-site. Maximum 12 participants per class.
